Your opponent just blundered. Punish it.
Every position comes from a real game where one side just made a mistake. Find the move that takes advantage. It trains the other side of blunder-proofing: when your opponent hands you something, actually take it.
What it trains
- Spotting your opponent's blunder right after they play it
- Finding the move that wins material or mates
- Converting simple tactics under light time pressure
How it works
- 01
A position from a real game appears, just after the blunder.
- 02
Play the move that punishes it.
- 03
See the solution and your new rating; timed modes add the clock.
Why it stops blunders
At club level, games are rarely won by brilliant combinations. They're won by the player who notices their opponent's mistake. This drill trains that noticing.
FAQ
- Where do the positions come from?
- Real games, at the point right after a blunder. Link your Lichess account and you can also drill the blunders from your own games.
- Is there a timed mode?
- Yes. Storm and Time Trial modes are available once you're signed in.
- How is this different from Lichess puzzles?
- Lichess puzzles cover every tactic and rating. This drill is narrower: simple punishments of the kinds of blunders players rated 600–1400 actually make.
